Exclamation Ranger vs Mesmer pvp

Are there any really good builds for fighting a mesmer pvp?
Any weapon or armor recommendations as well?
Any help would be welcomed.
(also what secondary should I have I just started a pre-searing character)

Umm, PvP is a team game. Why are you making it sound like 1 vs 1?

*cough*

Same way you would deal with just about any other caster...have a couple interrupts and don't do stupid things like attack through Diversion, Empathy, Ineptitude... etc.

But ya, worry more about PvE...

errrm I was talking about when I would get this char. to level 20.
(i have 2 20's and 18 and a 17 :P I can deal with pve)
I also meant just pvping mesmers in general.
No need to be rude.

Dazed works well on mesmers, otherwise cripple em, poison em and run. There's usually not much sense in trying to interupt em with Savage or Distracting Shot since fast casting makes any attempt to do so almost completely based on luck.

Mesmers are squishy targets since they have low AL, but they can take down enemies quickly if they are built right. If it's an anti-caster mesmer you are going against, just attack him, if it's anti warrior/ranger, avoid them.

If you have factions, broad head arrow with read the wind or favorable winds could help.

um...first buy really good bows and a sup vigor and full druids before pvping with that character.

then, it depends on the situation. daze them, poison and cripple then run away, or have a warrior beat the crap out of them are all good options.

Of all the professions I would fight, Rangers are the most annoying. So I dont think you would have too much trouble taking down a Mesmer. Bring Troll Unguent as well.

If it's anti warrior mesmer, just wait until clumsiness or ineptitude wear off, they really do nothing if you arent attacking. And because there's a bit of an interval for cooldown on both spells, you're free to attack afterwards. I suppose your only problem is distortion. And then you go and trap.

crip shot is a pretty much guaranteed hit.

crip shot/apply poison/savage shot/distracting shot/etc...

the usual flag runner builds should be able to handle them

but as stated, when would it ever be a one on one fight?

I never really meant it to sound like 1v1(looking back on it though I can see where people would think that), I just want to be effective against mesmers in pvp.

Therull you're really funny. Absolute self-contradiction in your last post.

Leave wiping out mesmers to the squishy-killers (sins, warr's, and maybe eles), rangers need to concentrate on the entire opposing team rather than just certain professions. If you come across a mesmer, use some conditions, run away, and remove any hexes you might have acquired. Just don't get mad when they slow you down and interrupt your unguent, whilst the rest of their team finishes you.

continuing yanman's thought, your problem is that your trying to take on lvl 20's as a lvl 5 but anyways, it's always fun to interupt...although mesmer's can be hard to get when they juice up fast casting...so go r/me and arcane conudrum (sp? bleh) them, maybe even migrane them.

I use savage/distracting/poison arrow/pindown/throw dirt/dodge/purge cond.
works well for most classes, just avoid being cornered.
